Cadiz

Cadiz is an usual port of call for positioning cruises going to or comming from South America and the Caribbean. It is also used by companies like Royal Caribbean all year round for cruises starting from Southampton and going to the Mediterranean."La tacita de plata" (so is called Cadiz because of the sunsets "the silver cup") is one of the most charming cities of Andalusia and is famous for its Carnival. The port is fully integrated into the city, so you can choose to visit Cadiz by foot.

OFFICIAL TOURS: The  options in this destination are limited. We can go to Seville, Jerez de la Frontera to visit one of its wineries, a tour of the city and the typical flamenco. I would choose the visit to Jerez, because Seville is a destination for a long holiday itself and you can find flamenco shows in other destinations like Barcelone

ALTERNATIVE: Take a walk around the old town. The distances in Cadiz are very short.
Leaving the port and walking to the left you'll find "la puerta de la tierra" and the rest of the old fortress. After it there's a great beach where you can swim or lie in the sun.But if we leave the port and walk straight forward you will reach San Juan de Dios square, the Cathedral and the Roman TheatreIf we go to the right we will find the streets of the city, most of them pedestrians. If we reach the park Genovés we can enjoy a great view of the sunset from the terrace of the Parador Hotel Atlántico

WHERE TO EAT: We have several options:

1. PESCAITO FRITO (Fried fish). It is always a good option to stop at any "FREIDURIA" and have a beer with fried fish done the andalusian way. I recommend to try "Bienmesabe". A good place is for example Las Flores (Topete Square)
2. 10 DE VEEDOR. Located in the street and number of his own name. It is a former grocery store that became Restaurant / Tasca. I highly recommend sitting at the bar/tasca and order some "tapas" like their famous goat cheese toast or "Ortiguillas". If you choose to sit in the restaurant you'll find the high quality of the products.
3. EL FARO. Located in San Felix street 15. It began as a "freiduría" like Flores and evolved into what is now, one of the best restaurants in town. It is expensive but the quality is unbeatable.
